CRAFTY THINGS FROM MALTA!

Came back last night to a green dazzling flowery paradise! Been to Valletta in Malta for 8 days, and green foliage has emerged in Sweden during the time we were gone. 
This is my absolute favourite time of year, Sweden at its best. Wish that May were at least twice as long!

So from what I found out there're two craft stores in Malta. Hobbyworld Arts & Crafts on top of Constitution street in Mosta, and M.T.S. Arts & Craft in Zabbar. I went to the one in Mosta, where the famous 'Miracle Church' (the Rotunda) also is.

There are buses going all over the island. Be warned though; they all drive like maniacs.....! Certainly not ideal for a person with EDS, especially the times we had to stand up due to the crowd. Was afraid for my unstable joints. 
My husband actually hurt his knee due to completely crazy and jerky driving.

Store was on the very top of the long street, but we finally found it! Had to cover my face with sunglasses for several days, since I suffered a strong allergic reaction. Was grotesque, I looked like a monster. 😱 Extremely swollen face, and my eyes were tiny. Huuuuge eyelids! 

Had to go to a Floriana Health Centre, where I got cortisone and Telfast. Took the last dose today. Hope the feeling of having sandpaper instead of skin on my face will disappear aswell...!
Don't know if an old sunscreen was the villain, or maybe the sheets of the apartement hotel that really smelled of chlorine.


A nice women from Wales was working in this craft store. I got a few bits:

Adore this stencil from Georgia, USA!! Actually never heard of this brand before, have you? It's Plaid FolkArt. So cool!

Rub-ons were on sale. Really like "gnuggisar", I think they're underestimated!

Beautiful tag stamps from German Viva Decor

Seen many Youtube crafters use these sheets and they seem so practical. Unlike most other crafters I almost never buy things online, so I've never had them. 
Praktiskt att ha eftersom jag brukar sitta och pyssla vid ett gammalt avlutat träbord (and I don't want acrylic paint, glue or other mediums on it!).

Never had UTEE ('extra tjockt präglingsemaljpulver') either. Will be so much fun playing with it!

In Malta siesta seems common, and the stores are often closed between 12.30 to 4.30 pm. Be sure to check that out in advance if you're going to Malta!

We got on a bus in Mosta that took us to beautiful Mdina, 'The Silent City'. About 300 people lives here!

They actually have a 'Flying Tiger' (Danish dollarstore) in Valletta, that's where the graphite pens are from! 2 euro for three pens.


Found the flowers in a tiny shop in Valletta (St Lucia street) that mostly sold religious cards.

Also found a couple of fabulous photo albums with handmade paper that I'll convert into art journal books, will show you in my next blog.
Never went to the craft store in small town Zabbar, southeast on the island, but if you're visiting Malta it's probably well worth a visit. I was glad to get anywhere at all with that scary face of mine!!

There was a Green Festival in Valletta this last weekend. So beautiful! 
Valletta has about 5500 inhabitants. Love the yellowish lime stone that most buildings are made from. It's a very beautiful town, but Old Town Dubrovnik for sure remains my absolute Favourite - that magic place is just unbeatable - check it out:  here!
My husband & I have been in Dubrovnik three times, staying at the fantastic Nije Presa apartment hotel in the old town.

Have you seen the very cool colouring book that Netto (the Danish dollarstore) got last week? They have different themes but I really like this one:

Has such awesome pictures to color. Here're a few examples:

Netto have had these kind of brush pens below for a long time, now the price was reduced, from 59 kronor to 29,60 kr!

They might come in handy when coloring in the 'fashion book' above!

Some art journal spreads that I've done since the last blog:

Mostly cutouts from Daphne's Diary, the leafy greens is a napkin (that was sent to me in a happy mail a while back)

Yep, I do like my colors!!

Background is gelatos and the peacocks from a napkin (same happy mail!). A few cutouts from Daphne's.

Did this spread yesterday, it's for a challenge. Bicycle on the right from a napkin. Background colors gel crayons from Ica Maxi! Stickers from Netto. The old penny farthing bike is a diecut from Xcut.

Lastly a card, that was for a challenge aswell. Swirly stamps (blue) and stencil (purple) from Danish hobby store Panduro, that is all over Sweden.

So it's Friday today, and in Sweden we have something that's called 'fredagsmys'. Like 'cosy Friday evening'! If you want to have a delicious AND quite healthy snack, here's the thing!

I'll first take it in Swedish:

Mixa:
fetaost
persilja eller basilika
vitlök
oliv- eller rapsolja.

Du kan bland med en stavmixer eller i en mixer som du brukar göra smoothies med. Blanda tills det blir en härlig grön jämn 'smet'.
Dippa gurk- & morotsstavar, cocktail tomater, stjälkselleri, etc.
Såååå vansinnigt gott!

Mix: 
feta cheese
parsley or basil
garlic
olive or rapeseed oil.

Use a stick blender or any other kind of mixer that you have at home. Mix until it turns into a lovely green even "batter".
Dip cucumber-, carrot- or cellery fingers, small  cocktail tomatoes, etc. Sooooo delicious! And you get a lot of antioxidants!

STORAGE TIP AND 5 ART JOURNAL SPREADS

Hooray, it's a lovely almost summery Thursday, at least 20°. I think it's safe to say that spring finally arrived properly to the south of Sweden! Almost too hot to drink coffee..... Naaaawh, just kidding! The tub of vanilla coffee is next to me as usual!  😉

The Gorjuss lottery that I had on by blog last week was won by: Johanna Bräcklein. Since there were no contestants from the blog itself the current time, I only announced it on Facebook.

Went for a walk yesterday by the sea and took some pictures. Loooovely blue sky!
Because I have such unstable joints, I walked backwards for a couple of hundred meters to 'save' my knees. If anyone saw me I wonder what they were thinking, haha ha! 'Well there's obviously a total nutjob...' !

Over to our wonderful hobby - crafting! What would we do without it?! Well I would fore sure be a nutcase then!!

Can't live without messing about with colors! Get happy just looking at my acrylic & tempera paints!

This African theme is 100% inspired by Umut Rados' Youtube video 'Mixed Media Art Journal Page', from August 12th last year. The background is made from a napkin. I love animals!

This spread was for a challenge. Gelatos in the background. The bird is a cutout from Daphne's Diary. The garden water pitcher is a Dutch stencil from Mitchell. Unfortunately the author behind the quote is unknown.

The background is made up from old clothes tags that I've saved. Background colors from Netto's tempera colors. Cutouts again from Daphne's. 
The green diecut to the right is Wild rose studios (bought it in Krakow). Pink lace heart to the left is Impression Obsession (Pysseltagen). The iron gate die is Tim Holtz (Pema).
Coffe themed stamps Czech Republic Razitka nové generace (bought at Davona in Prague).
Think you can guess where the cutouts come from!!

Did this yesterday, and it almost drove me crazy. Murphy's Law (= Lagen om Alltings Dj*vlighet) all the way through. Started using white extra soft pastels for the masking bit, which was not a good idea at all. Got rid of that and instead used white gelatos. Messed it up several times, and I don't know if it is ready yet. This card just annoys me!!  😠

Wish Jan, Feb and March would disappear all together, and that spring would be twice as long!

For a long time I've been thinking of organizing my Tim Holtz' dies, by throwing away the hard plastic packing, and gluing the picture on the die itself. 
Never got around to it until I saw a youtuber from Greece doing exactly that! Gave me the kick in the butt that I needed to get started.

I freakin' hate these plastic packaging. They also take up extra space in my cabinet. Good riddance!
Used my cutting machine to get the label into the right measure, and then used my tape runner to glue it to the die. Much better!

Oh by the way; if you live in Sweden have you watch the Swedish/Danish dramathriller 'Gråzon'?! It's on C More. Sooooo thrilling! The Danes are brilliant at making thrillers.

PENNOR, PENNOR & UTLOTTNING!

Hejsan gott folk!
Gäller minsann att hålla i hatten idag, hua' va' det blåser (börjar nästan bli rädd att fönsterrutorna ska rämna!)! Hoppas det inte tänker hålla på så här hela våren, längtar efter kaffestunder i hammocken. Var i stugan i helgen och isen hade ännu inte släppt.

Så kul det varit om man kunnat åka skridskor på sjön!!

Solen strålar i alla fall denna torsdag, häääärligt!

Givetvis måste man packa med sig pyssel när man ska vara i stugan några dagar - annars slår abstinensen obönhörligt till!!  😲

Målade bl a denna bild som jag scannat från Daphne's Diary.

Testade olika sorters pennor, färger och är inte klar. Ska klippa ut fåglarna och använda i en art journal.

På väg till stugan besökte jag Panduro. De hade erbjudande på tre Posca pennor till priset av två! Tydligen finns det sju olika sorters storlek. Posca är en snabbtorkande vattenbaserad marker. 
Jag var på jakt efter vit, men pennorna finns i alla möjliga färger.

Dessa är 8,0 mm, 1,8 - 2,5 mm  samt 0,9 - 1,3 mm spets. Håller du också på med art journals vet du redan hur bra de är att t ex göra en ram med runt sidan. 
Om du använder gel medium så se dock till att sidan är torr innan du använder Posca pennor, annars blir de totalt förstörda. 😰  Posca pennor ska helst förvaras horisontellt.

Kampanjen gäller fortfarande, så passa på! Three Posca pens for the price of two, yay!

På hemväg från stugan blev det en snabbvisit på Netto. Denna vecka hade de fineliners, 0,7 mm spets. Toppen till doodling!

Så många färger! Kanonbra när man ska färglägga små pilliga images!


Har i minst en månad tänkt att jag skulle ha en utlottning på min blogg. NU får jag se till att komma till skott! 
Lottar ut en small Gorjuss Santoro plånbok (obs att det inte är en piratkopia!) till någon läsare.

Är själv inte så inne i Gorjuss-världen, men vad jag förstår har de olika flickorna namn. Har sökt med bild, men det verkar inte som om just denna figur finns mer på plånböcker. Köpte denna utomlands för några år sedan (givetvis är den helt oanvänd!).
